This course will prepare you to work in a range of settings and government services. It will also introduce you to working as a freelancer and connect you with our partner agencies to access work opportunities.
This course acts as preparation for the following exams/assessments:
• CTTIC - Certified Community Interpreter with CTTIC
• CILISAT - Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Exam
English proficiency: You must demonstrate reading, writing, and speaking skills at Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 8 (or equivalent fluent‐intermediate level) and be familiar with Canadian systems.
This course is best suited for those who have lived in Canada for at least two years.
Second-language proficiency: The course is delivered in English, but you will practice interpreting into your other working language. While we won’t formally test your language skills, you should have intermediate to advanced proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking any language in which you intend to work as an interpreter.
All instructors and mentors are bilingual or multilingual, covering more than 10 languages, and our extended network of coaches supports over 30 languages. This ensures you receive guidance and feedback tailored to your linguistic needs.
